We just received our new RO membrane for the 2023 season. Last year, eight of our nine membranes were in decent shape, only one of them arguably could have been replaced. This new membrane will take the last spot in the sequence, where the highest sugar content and lowest pressure make it difficult to perform. The previous end membrane will replace our aging one, the last one left from 2016. For more info see our post from last fall here
Earlier this month we received our new maple sugar sifter from Sunrise Metal. This one measures 12×36″ and has a larger motor than our previous 12×12″ sugar sifter. With this new one we’ll be able to dump an entire 50 pound batch of sugar in to sift all at once. With three times the surface area we should rarely clog up now, it should allow us to sift 1000+ pounds without cleaning. Checkout the video below
Last year we setup three of our four woods with the Datacer monitoring system. We used Smartrek on our fourth property, but didn’t like the system as much. For the coming 2023 season we’ve replaced Smartrek with Datacer. Installation was a breeze after setting up the other three systems last year. We’re looking forward to tapping in two months!
