Last summer we widened our driveway by two feet. This spring we added as much drainage as possible given all of the trees in close proximity. While it now sheds water and handles all of the heavy truck traffic we receive, anyone who has driven on it recently knows it can be a bumpy ride with potholes forming and larger stones being kicked up. Yesterday we topped it with four triaxel loads of 2B gray limestone! It’s a dream to drive on right now. With a wider and more solid foundation combined with better drainage this should last a lot longer than our previous band-aids. Limestone is much harder than sandstone so the surface should not disintegrate under pressure. We’ve been using it next to the farmhouse for six years and that part is still in great shape. Hopefully this is our last driveway post for a while!
