Humble beginnings

We were reminded of our roots over the weekend when some friends of ours found the favors we gave at our wedding back in 2014. We opened the last of ours from that season about a year ago and it was still delicious (maple syrup can keep for quite a long time when left sealed)!

The second picture gives you a glimpse of our humble, hobbyist beginnings, back when we were boiling sap over an open fire in our backyard. You might notice that Nova was there to oversee the process back then as well!

Meet Our Team

Supporting a small business means having a direct impact on the lives of both the owners and employees. What started with 2 people full time (plus seasonal help) in 2015, has now grown to a full time staff of 7.  We have posted in the past about how we feel like a family at Nova Maple Syrup, and figured it was about time to introduce everyone on our team! Check out our team member bios which are now posted on our ABOUT US page.

Limestone Driveway

Last summer we widened our driveway by two feet. This spring we added as much drainage as possible given all of the trees in close proximity. While it now sheds water and handles all of the heavy truck traffic we receive, anyone who has driven on it recently knows it can be a bumpy ride with potholes forming and larger stones being kicked up. Yesterday we topped it with four triaxel loads of 2B gray limestone! It’s a dream to drive on right now. With a wider and more solid foundation combined with better drainage this should last a lot longer than our previous band-aids. Limestone is much harder than sandstone so the surface should not disintegrate under pressure. We’ve been using it next to the farmhouse for six years and that part is still in great shape. Hopefully this is our last driveway post for a while!
