Yesterday we finished connecting our solar panel array and went live producing power! this 14kW system should produce ~75% of our annual power consumption. Thanks to Solar Revolution out of Erie, PA, they did a great job!

Yesterday we broke ground on our solar panel installation, which should be completed later this week! In the end we’ll have 50x 285 Watt panels that will generate the majority of the electricity used to make syrup. We use lots of power, the Reverse Osmosis unit costs about $2 an hour to run for about 5 hours a day and the vacuum pump costs around $0.50 per hour but runs 24/7! More pictures later this week.
