When we first started the business, we tried a little bit of everything. Over time, we discovered where our true strengths were, and after a decade we’ve found that our specialty lies in value-added products and online retail. As much as we love working in the woods, we’ve chosen to downsize our syrup production so we can focus more on the sugar shack while still making time for family. This summer we sold our Brass Road property to Kelly and Tyler of Windy Knoll Maple, and we’re confident they’ll dedicate the time and energy needed to help the sugar bush thrive. Letting go of such a special place isn’t easy—we’ve made so many great memories there—but knowing it will be cared for and continue producing syrup each year makes the transition easier.
